PROJECT FIVE - OUTDOOR CLASSROOM
A school district commissioned Winco Landscape to help create a space for students to learn in the outdoor environment. They wanted an easy-to-maintain area that was engaging while allowing everyone to enjoy our beautiful Spring and Fall weather. The photo to the right shows the site before construction - great potential for the perfect classroom.
BEFORE
We created a concept plan and some 3D visuals to help design the space. Then we got to work! We brought in limestone outcroppings to create natural benches that students could sit on. We stabilized them a few inches into the ground to make sure they wouldn’t move. We also planted a few low maintenance shrubs for greenery & a tree for future shade. Finally, we installed a modified trap rock base that stays tidy and is fully ADA accessable.
DURING
The classroom is fully functional! The space accommodates a full class, and is complete with a few garden planters. The photo to the right was taken in the Fall, so come Spring, there will be a good amount of color!
